We’ve been talking about it for a while but now we’ve got the article! VNN will be at Otakon! Of course, we’re not the only VOCALOID related goodness going on this weekend. We’ll be hanging out with EmpathP, who has two panels, and we’ll even be attending the VOCALOTAKON photo shoot! Here’s our plans of operation for VOCALOID News Network at Otakon!
EmpathP’s Panels
EmpathP is hosting two panels this weekend, one on Saturday morning and one on Sunday morning. Expect to see VNN there for both. Unfortunately, VNN doesn’t have any panels at Otakon this year.

Photo Shoot
In addition to the panels, there’s an official VOCALOID photo shoot as well! Anyone cosplaying VOCALOIDs or UTAUs can head to the VOCALOTAKON photo shoot on Saturday. Or, you can be like VNN and just be there to take pictures. The event will take place on Saturday at 6:30 PM and will last until 7:30 PM. It’ll be located on the third floor terrace. For those unfamiliar with the Baltimore Convention Center, we have a visual available below.

Goodies!
Monds and I (Hoshi) are going all out for Otakon. We have over 200 pins to give away featuring all of our banner characters. You can get Miku, Luo Tianyi, Xin Hua, Stardust, IA, MAIKA, AVANNA, UNI, SeeU, MAYU, Vivi, and En pins! We have about 20 of each to give away. Since we don’t have any panels of our own, you’ll have to find us to get some!
Bookmarks
In addition to the standard pins, we also have a limited amount of bookmarks to give away. We have three different designs that each feature some of our banner characters. These are limited to one per person due to the quantity.
The bookmark on the left features Vivi, En, and IA.
The middle bookmark features Miku, MAYU, Luo Tianyi, SeeU, and AVANNA.
And the right bookmark features Tianyi, Xin Hua, Stardust, MAIKA, and UNI.
The bookmarks have the designs on the front and back, and are made of rather sturdy material. However, they can still bend and aren’t laminated, so do be careful with them.
Special Prize
Finally, we have an extra special treat for five lucky VNN fans. While we’ll have tons of pins and quite a few bookmarks, we’ll also have limited to five of this special prize. What is it, you ask? None other than Anime Expo 2011 posters featuring Miku!
These won’t come easy, however, and are reserved for VNN fans only. How do you get one? Well, it’s not so simple.
First, you have to find me, Hoshi. I’ll be carrying around a grey poster container as long as I have the posters. You’ll be looking for a girl wearing a VIP Miku Expo watch as well as either a VNN or VOCALOID related shirt. Follow me on Twitter @VocaHoshi as I’ll be posting what I’m wearing (and when I run out of posters) so you know how to find me.
Next, you have to let me know you follow VNN and specifically ask about the posters. Please don’t be rude, though. Just something like “Hey, are you Hoshi?” to confirm it’s me and then “Do you still have the Anime Expo posters?”, and you’re good to go to the next step.
Finally, here’s the hard part. These guys aren’t going to be given away for free. Instead, you’re going to have to complete a challenge. I may ask a trivia question, I may tell you to name x amount of VOCALOIDs in a certain amount of time, or I may pull something else VOCALOID related out of my hat. Don’t worry, though. It won’t be anything crazy. I just want to see how big of a VOCALOID fan you are.
Pass the challenge and the poster is yours!
We hope to see lots of VOCALOID fans at Otakon! Even if you’re not interested in the goodies, come by and say hi! You’ll be able to find us via our VNN or other VOCALOID shirts (Monds has both IA and ONE shirts, and I have a few Miku ones as well as a Team Flufferpuffer shirt). Don’t forget to be on the lookout for EmpathP as we’ll be spending quite a bit of time with her.
