It has been announced on the official Hatsune Miku blog that the apparel brand, SuperGroupies, which in the past has created and sold Miku-themed sneakers, will be releasing pumps themed around Miku, Rin, Len, and Luka.
This marks the second VOCALOID-related collaborative project with SuperGroupies, a brand known for making high-quality anime goods following the concept of “Anime ≒ Fashion.” This time, they’ll be releasing four different types of pumps that follow the color schemes and clothing articles of Miku, Rin, Len, and Luka. These splendid footwear perfectly capture the uniqueness and identity of each of the characters whom they represent, and are sure to be a big hit with female customers.
(※All images below that do not show writing on the pumps are from the official Hatsune Miku blog.)
First up, the Miku pumps! Using the black, teal-blue, and red colors from Miku’s outfit, they perfectly reproduce the whole cyber feel that Miku herself exudes. The silver necktie accessory and the crystal-like heel further enhance the stylish appeal of these pumps.
Up next, we have the pumps themed around Rin and Len (the above two images are for Rin’s pumps, the bottom two ones are for Len’s).
In contrast to Miku’s mostly-black pumps, the Kagamines’ pumps are mainly white. Hanging on the ankle straps are gold-tinted accessories of each character’s trademark treble clef and bass clef, and at the tips of the shoes are their hair bow and necktie. Also at the tips are the characters’ collar designs, giving the pumps an almost child-like look to them.
Finally, there’s Luka’s pumps. Differentiating itself from Miku, Rin, and Len’s pumps, Luka’s pumps use a pink-and-black color scheme, going for a more feminine and mature vibe. This vibe is further strengthened with the addition of the brooch from Luka’s V4X design being situated at the tip of the shoes. Out of all the new pumps, Luka’s are the ones designed to look the most refined and sophisticated.
Sales of these pumps follow a built-to-order method, and are available in the following sizes: 22 cm (8.6 in), 22.5 cm (8.8 in), 23 cm (9 in), 23.5 cm (9.2 in), 24 cm (9.4 in), 24.5 cm (9.6 in), 25 cm (9.8 in), and 25.5 cm (10 in). Each pair costs ¥16,800 JPY (about $163 USD). The pre-order period began on Miku’s birthday (August 31st) and will continue until September 19th (anyone who pre-orders during this period can expect their goods to arrive sometime in January 2017). There may even be some male customers willing to purchase them, you know, just to “try out…”
