Documentary Released About Hatsune Miku x Kodo Performance!

Hatsune Miku is a voice from the future, and Kodo is a group bringing back sounds from the past. The two have come together for a Hatsune Miku x Kodo performance which delighted fans across the world.

Who is Kodo?

Kodo is a Japanese performing arts group with the goal of bringing traditional Japanese music into the realm of modern music, and beyond. They do so mainly through the use of Japanese taiko drums. In 1981, Kodo formed, and the group has since had tours across the globe. Kodo members are passionate about their work, and what better way to showcase it than alongside Japan’s digital diva? Back in March,  Kodo and Hatsune Miku co-starred in a live collaborative performance.

For fans that missed the chance to see this, a documentary was just released on NHK WORLD which contains clips of the event. It also has other great information, interviews, and a section about VOCALOID’s rise to fame.

The documentary is 49 minutes long, and is entirely in English. Along with clips of the performance, there is some information about the beginnings of the group Kodo, as well as the evolution of the character of Hatsune Miku, and what it means to be a VOCALOID producer. Many shows try to cover the technical side of the VOCALOID software, but this one is different. The documentary talks about how Miku herself became popular, and lead to the rise of her fellow VOCALOIDs. It features interviews with several popular producers. They are DECO*27, livetune, MikitoP, and wowaka.
